I am a freelance record mixer and producer based in Houston, TX, serve as Executive Officer for SugarHill Recording Studios, and have been involved in the Houston music community for the past ten years.
I have been a staff/resident engineer at SugarHill Recording Studios since 2004 (highlights include working with Nas, Kid Ink, Paul Wall, Hubert Laws, RCA Records, Universal Music Group, Los Skarnales, A-Blake Records, and many local Houston acts), served as Night Manager and Recital Manager at The Shepherd School of Music, Rice University from 2007-2012, founded the Canned Acoustica concert series with partners Mark C. Austin and David Garcia in 2011, and was nominated for “Best Producer” in the 2013 Houston Press Music Awards. I am a voting member of NARAS (National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences) and a member of AES (Audio Engineering Society).
In addition to record production, I perform as a member of Chase Hamblin & The Roustabouts – 2012 & 2013 Houston Press Music Awards winner for “Best Pop” (vocals/percussion), Row Zero (Vocals/ percussion/keyboard/guitar), and on occasion sit in with other artists.
Throughout my career I have had opportunities to travel the country as a live Front-Of-House engineer, Mixer/Producer, and as a performing musician (most memorable performances were with some of my recording clients at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, and multiple times at Free Press Summer Fest). While making records is my favorite thing to do, my career has been very diverse so far and I absolutely love it!
When I’m not working, I enjoy reading books with my cats, Yorke and Calitort, watching movies, eating at any of Houston’s many great restaurants, and catching shows from either great local bands or favorite touring acts. I also have a love of photography and enjoy making films for fun.
